Indian Premier League franchise Chennai Super Kings on Saturday (March 30) roped in New Zealand speedster Scott Kuggeleijn as a replacement for the injured Proteas pacer Lungi Ngidi.

Ngidi got ruled out of IPL 2019 after sustaining a side strain during the recently held ODI series against Sri Lanka. CSK had bought Ngidi for INR 50 lakh before the 2018 season.

Confirming the signing of Kuggeleijn, the defending IPL champions took to Twitter and wrote: “The answer to every #SuperFan's question in the last couple of days: Scott Kuggeleijn from Hamilton, New Zealand! #LionAlert #KuluKuluKuggeleijn #WhistlePodu #Yellove ”.

Having made his international debut in May 2017, Scott Kuggeleijn has represented New Zealand in 2 ODIs and 4 T20Is thus far. While the 27-year-old has claimed five wickets in the 50-over format, he has taken two scalps in the shortest format.

In non-international T20s, Kuggeleijn boasts an impressive record. The right-armer has 67 wickets to his name from 75 matches with the best bowling figures of 4/18.
