Nitish Rana has expressed his frustration over the sudden power outage that was seen in the middle of Kolkata Knight Riders' home encounter versus Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday (March 24).

While chasing the stiff target of 182 runs on the day, Rana had resurrected the KKR innings with a valiant knock of 68*. But just then one of the floodlights tripped due to a short circuit for around 12 minutes to completely take the momentum away from youngster's innings.

Rana was out of the very first delivery bowled after the break in play against Rashid Khan and left massively disappointed at the proceedings in Eden Gardens.

"I didn’t know this could happen," he was quoted saying at the post-match press conference. "My gameplan suddenly got interrupted. I lost my momentum when I came to the dressing room. The atmosphere also became a bit relaxed."

"I got into the shell because of the break. I could have finished the match if the break was not there."

Avishek Dalmiya, the joint-secretary of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), described the sudden happening as "an eventuality which got rectified." Before the agency controlling operations of the match left an official statement regarding the short-circuit in E-Block Tower.

"There are 131 contractors in E-Block Tower for switching on 131 M Halide Lamps," it reads as per PTI. "Unfortunately, contactor bearing No. 1-8 of Phase RB-1 got short-circuited due to a chance cause, which tripped the MCB system resulting in tripping of few lamps."

"The matter was identified and corrective action was taken immediately thereby the system came back to normalcy."

Meanwhile, Rana also praised Andre Russell for blasting away 49 runs of just 19 balls to script a once unlikely six-wicket victory for his team. He said, "I cannot describe his batting in words. It was unbelievable batting. In 18 balls we needed 53 runs and we won the match with two balls to spare. That’s how capable he is. The game plan was: whatever we needed, we would leave it to Russell and that worked."
