Rishabh Pant smacked his fifty in just 18 balls | TwitterDelhi Capitals debuted their new attitude against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on March 24, Sunday. This is the first match for both the franchises in the IPL 2019 and Delhi Capitals just made a very good first impression.

Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field first. Mumbai gave a debut to Rasikh Salam Dar, a 17-year-old pacer from Jammu and Kashmir and Yuvraj Singh too made his first appearance in MI colors. Delhi, on the other hand, welcomed Ishant Sharma, Keemo Paul and Colin Ingram to their fold.

After losing Shaw for 7 and skipper Iyer for 16, Shikhar Dhawan (43) and Colin Ingram (47) added 83 runs for the 3rd wicket in the Delhi innings. At 131/4 in 15 overs, Mumbai Indians must have thought that Delhi Capitals might get to 180 at the most.

However, they forgot Rishabh Pant, who smacked the living daylights out of the Mumbai Indians bowling attack and reached his 50 in just 18 balls. Pant made 78* in just 27 balls with 7 fours and 7 sixes and led DC to 213/6. He smacked the likes of Bumrah, Cutting and others to all around the Wankhede Stadium park. Mitchell McClenaghan picked 3/40 to be the pick of MI bowlers.

Cricket fraternity was shocked at the assault done by Pant on Mumbai Indians bowling and his strike rate of 288.88. Here are some of the tweets lauding the brilliance of Pant.
