Andre Russell's unbeaten 19 balls 49 runs knock helped Kolkata Knight Riders beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first game of IPL 2019 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Earlier on a good batting track, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and asked Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first. David Warner made a great comeback and his 85 runs off 53 balls knock and cameos from Jonny Bairstow and Vijay Shankar helped to post a good total of 181/3.

In the chase, Kolkata Knight Riders started off poorly and lost Chris Lynn cheaply. Nitish Rana and Robin Uthappa rebuilt the innings and Rana also brought in his fifty.

In the last three overs, Kolkata needed 53 runs and Andre Russell's carnage innings of 49* runs off 19 balls helped his team to cross the winning line.
