Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was delighted to have David Warner back in the squad ahead of the impending 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019, and Deepak Hooda was all in praise for the aggressive opener, saying the entire SRH squad feels more confident with the Aussie’s presence.

Having missed the last edition of the IPL 2018 due to the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa that rocked Australian cricket, Warner has now joined the SRH squad on 17 March for the IPL 2019, which will be crucial for the hard-hitting right-hander when it comes to his comeback to international cricket.

Young all-rounder Hooda said that Warner, who has been a prolific run-scorer in lucrative T20 event and has 4014 runs at 40.54 in his 114 IPL outings to his name, has always been an inspiration for the SRH and his return boosted the morale of the side ahead of the IPL 2019 starting from 23 March.

Speaking to India Today on Tuesday, 19 March, Hooda said, “David Warner, obviously, has always been an inspiration for the team. His attitude has always been to lead from the front. The whole team enjoys with him and feels more confident. When an international player of his stature comes into the team it boosts the morale of the rest of the players as well.”

Meanwhile, Hooda said that Warner and Kane Williamson, who led the SRH to the IPL 2018 final, which won by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), are calm personalities in the dressing room.

He also lauded New Zealander as an outstanding captain, saying his ability to work with the bowlers during pressure situations really worked wonders for the side in the IPL 2019.

Hooda signed off by saying, “Kane Williamson, as well all know, is one of the best captains at the international level as well, he leads the New Zealand team. There is no doubt he is an outstanding captain. Even last year we played the final under him. He spoke to the bowlers constantly, guided them in the death overs and made the correct field changes. All these small things matter a lot.”
