Delhi Capitals (earlier Delhi Daredevils) continued their overhaul process ahead of the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League. After changing the name, logo and jersey, the Delhi-based franchise on Thursday (March 14) appointed an advisor in their setup.
Talking to Twitter, Delhi Capitals’ official account confirmed that former India captain Sourav Ganguly will be their advisor in IPL 2019.
“BREAKING: Tigers, say hello to our Royal Bengal Tiger! We're delighted to welcome @SGanguly99 to Delhi Capitals, in the role of an Advisor. #ThisIsNewDelhi #DelhiCapitals,” Delhi Capitals tweeted.
It is worth mentioning here that Delhi already have a legendary head coach in Ricky Ponting while Mohammad Kaif is the assistant coach of the franchise.
Delhi’s squad has also been bolstered by the return of Shikhar Dhawan, who was traded from Sunrisers Hyderabad prior the IPL 2019 auction. Moreover, the squad also includes proven performers such as Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Kagiso Rabada, Chris Morris among others.
The IPL 2019 will kick-start on March 23 with Chennai Super Kings hosting Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament opener. Delhi will start its campaign against Mumbai Indians on March 24 at the Wankhede Stadium.
