Indian batsman Hanuma Vihari is all set to return to Indian Premier League (IPL) with the upcoming 2019 edition of the T20 event for the first time in three years having last played in 2015.

The right-handed batsman was bought by the Delhi Capitals (DC) for Rs 2 crore at the IPL Auction 2019 in December last year and he is excited to be there.

However, Vihari has denied any pressure of returning to the famous T20 league after a gap of three years, as the 25-year-old is just looking forward to making the most of the opportunity to showcase his talent in the franchise event and contribute in DC’s ultimate dream is to win the title this season.

On Thursday (21st February), Hanuma told Cricket Country, “I don’t feel any pressure at all, it’s an opportunity for me to showcase my talent and what I have become as a cricketer in these three years.”

The Andhra batter continued, “My only goal is to contribute in a winning cause for Delhi Capitals. Of course, as a team, our ultimate dream is to win the trophy. We have a great mix of Indian and foreign players, and I’m really looking forward to playing under Shreyas and Ricky’s leadership.”

With DC featuring international stars likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Iyer, Jason Roy, Colin Ingram, and Colin Munro, Vihari’s chances seem slim, but he is ready to play at any position the management decides for him in the IPL 2019.

He further added on the same, “It really depends on the management – when and where they want me to bat, as an opener or a finisher. But I am fully ready and prepared for everything. I’ve waited for three years, and I’m mentally in a great space at the moment.”

Hanuma also wants to grab the opportunity with both hands to grab spotlight like other young cricketers in the country make it into India’s limited overs squad, with a good IPL season.

Vihari signed off by saying, “Whether it’s ODIs or T20s, this is where so many India players come up from. You may be playing a lot of domestic, a lot of List A games, but there are only so many people following that, whereas the IPL is a tournament where the whole world watches you. I’ve got this opportunity after 3 years, and want to grab it with both hands.”
