India's tour of Australia and New Zealand culminates on February 10, after which Australia will visit India for two T20Is and five ODIs, slated to be held from February 24 to March 13. With this year’s IPL scheduled to start on March 23, there are only 10 days in between to host Zimbabwe.

As per a report in ESPNcricinfo, Zimbabwe Cricket managing director Givemore Makoni is expected to meet with his BCCI counterparts this week to discuss the various options including the cancellation of the solitary Test for T20Is and ODIs.

The ODI series against Zimbabwe is considered as a handy option for India to get their combination right ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019, scheduled to be held in England from May 30 to July 14.

India hasn’t hosted Zimbabwe in a bilateral series since 2002. Zimbabwe’s last three India visit are the ICC events –World T20 in 2016, World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2006.
