IPL 2019 Auction: Set 3 and 4 – Jaydev Unadkat takes the auction by storm, Jonny Bairstow roped in by SRH

Nicholas Pooran got picked by KXIP

The much-awaited Indian Premier League 2019 auction finally got underway in Jaipur on Tuesday (December 18).

A total of 351 cricketers, including 228 Indians, are going under the hammer at the auction. The 346 cricketers listed for the auction was divided into four categories- batsman, bowler, wicket-keeper, and all-rounders.

Set 3 – Capped Wicketkeepers

Naman Ojha

Naman Ojha is the first wicket-keeper to go under the hammer and he remained unsold. Ojha, who has represented India in 1 Test, 1 ODI, and 2 T20Is, entered into the auction with a base price of 75 lakh.

Ben McDermott

Australia wicket-keeper Ben McDermott also remained unsold at the IPL 2019 auction. The 24-year-old had thrown his hat into the auction ring with a base price of 50 lakh.

Jonny Bairstow

England’s swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow was the first glovesman to have found a bid in this year’s auction. Bairstow, who entered into the auction with a base price of 1.50 crore, was roped in by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 2.20 crore.

Nicholas Pooran

Kings XI Punjab secured the services of West Indies wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran in the IPL 2019 auction. Pooran, who set the base of 75 lakh, was fetched by the Punjab based franchise for 4.20 crore.

Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha

India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha was retained by the IPL 2018 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad for 1.20 crore. Saha, who missed the major chunk of IPL 2018 due to injury, had entered into the auction with a base price of 1 crore.

Set 4 – Capped Fast Bowlers

Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat was roped in by Rajasthan Royals for a huge sum of 8.40 score. The left-arm has a base price of 1.50 crore.

Ishant Sharma

India speedster Ishant Sharma went to his home-based franchise Delhi Capitals for 1.10 crore. The lanky paceman entered into the auction with a base price of 75 lakh

Lasith Malinga

Sri Lanka’s ace pacer Lasith Malinga was fetched by the Mumbai Indians at his base price of 2 crores.

Mohammad Shami

Kings XI Punjab secured the services of Mohammad Shami for 4.80 crores. The Indian speedster had thrown his hat into the auction ring with a base price of 1 crore.

Varun Aaron

Rajasthan Royals roped in Varun Aaron for 2.40 crore. The Jharkhand paceman entered into the auction ring with a base price of 50 lakh.

Mohit Sharma

Mohit Sharma was picked by the defending champions Chennai Super Kings for 5 crore. The Indian medium-pacer had set a base price of 50 lakh.
