IPL 2019: Amount spent by each franchise on players retained and remaining purse

The IPL 2019 auction is scheduled to be held in December.

Defending Champions CSK released just three players before IPL 2019 auction

November 15, 2018, saw the deadline for player retention and transfer end for the upcoming IPL 2019 season and it saw the franchises retaining and releasing a host of players in order to prepare for the auction in December.

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings spent the most on retaining players with a price of INR 73.60 cr. They released just three players including England’s Mark Wood. Meanwhile on the other end of the spectrum, Kings XI Punjab will have the fattest purse to spend in the auction with only INR 48.50 cr spent on retaining players.

KXIP released the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Akshar Patel and Aaron Finch amongst others. The eight teams have spent a total of INR 510.75 crore on their retained players, while a maximum of INR 142.25 crore are left for the auction process, reported to be on December 16-17 in Goa.
