Shikhar Dhawan has left Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to join Delhi Daredevils (DD) for IPL 2019.

An official statement was released by the Hyderabad franchise on Twitter which confirmed the news. Dhawan has been part of SRH since 2013. He was considered as an integral part of the franchise and was one of the members of the IPL 2016 winning squad.

As per the reports, the 32-year-old wasn't pleased with the pay from Sunrisers. The franchise also had financial restrictions which led to exclusion of Dhawan from the franchise.

He was paid Rs.5.2 crores and compared to Rs 12.5 crore that he was earning 2 years back when the franchise had decided to retain him.

Dhawan had the possibility to join Kings XI Punjab as well as they offered a hike of 1 crore. But it was DD who attracted the left-handed batsman more with their pay.

Delhi has released three players for Dhawan. They are Vijay Shankar, Abhishek Sharma, and Shahbaz Nadeem – for an aggregate fee of 6.95 crores. He must be getting somewhere around 7 crores from Delhi.

“The franchise has made the decision to trade Shikhar as they feel it is best for both parties. SunRisers value the great contribution that Shikhar has made over the years, and saddened that due to financial reasons, he feels it’s time to move on. We wish him and his family all the best”, SRH's statement read.
