Former Indian opening batsman, Virender Sehwag on Saturday, parted ways with Kings XI Punjab after being with the IPL franchise from 2014 for two seasons as a player and three seasons as a mentor.

Sehwag confirmed ending of the association with a tweet, "All good things must come to an end and I've had a wonderful time at Kings 11 Punjab, for 2 seasons as a player and 3 as a mentor. My association with Kings 11 comes to an end and I am thankful for the time I have had here and wish the team all the very best for the times ahead."

Kings XI Punjab had earlier announced former New Zealand coach, Mike Hesson as their new head coach for the next season, replacing Brad Hodge who was with the team in the 2018 edition. Despite featuring some big names like Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin, the franchise failed to qualify for the playoffs which left their supporters disappointed.
