The speculations about the future of all-rounder Hardik Pandya with the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL continue to grow. Several reports have stated that Pandya might be traded ahead of the IPL 2027 season after three underwhelming IPLs with the MI franchise.
MI finished 10th and 9th in two of the three IPL seasons under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy, putting cloud on the future of the star all-rounder. The Mumbai Indians may trade Hardik to another team, according to long-running rumors that he wants to quit the team.
Hardik has been connected to clubs like the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the past several weeks, but no official information has been released.
Now Cricbuzz has reported that MI are yet to make up their mind about Hardik Pandya, and there is a chance that they might not release the all-rounder after all. The publication also revealed that the discussions with CSK and KKR are still in the preliminary stage.
The 32-year-old has also been connected to the Rajasthan Royals and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG); however, these connections are still merely rumors. The three-time champions KKR are reportedly interested in acquiring Hardik but are reluctant to give up any of their star players, according to Cricbuzz.
Cameron Green is one name that is being floated, but MI might not be interested in the Australian all-rounder even if KKR decided to part ways. Green’s participation in IPL 2027 hangs in the balance due to Australia’s packed calendar with marquee Test series against India and England.
Hardik Pandya has been out oaf action since IPL 2026 due to back spasms and other injuries. He has shifted his base to Bengaluru to keep training at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) and is closely moving towards full fitness.
Since 2024, Hardik has scored fewer than 225 runs at an average below 25 in each of the subsequent IPL seasons, with him striking at less than 150. With the ball, he returned with 29 scalps.
