India's batting mainstays Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have ended 2019 as the joint highest run-getters in the T20 International cricket with 2,633 runs in the format.

The battle for the top spot on the T20I batting charts has finally come to an end during the decider of the three-match T20I series between India and West Indies at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with the two star batsmen finishing the year jointly topping the chart.

In the third T20I – India's last T20I of 2019, Kohli and Rohit came out with exceptional batting performances, hitting 70 off 29 balls with 4 fours and 7 sixes and 71 off 34 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes respectively to help India to win the match by 67 runs to clinch the series against Windies.

Going into the series decider, the Indian skipper was just one run ahead of vice-captain in the chart, but their superb batting show in Mumbai forced the two to share the top spot in the T20Is with 2633 runs each followed by Martin Guptill (2,436), Shoaib Malik (2,263) and Brendon McCullum (2,140).

Meanwhile, the dashing right-hander has scored 24 half-centuries, while the hit-man has hit 19 fifties in his T20I career so far at a very similar strike rate.

However, Kohli has played fewer T20Is as compared to Rohit but they have faced almost the same number of balls – 1907 and 1905 respectively in the shortest format of the game while the Mumbai lad leads in the six-hitting stakes with 120 sixes to his skipper’s 71 maximums in T20Is.
