IND v WI 2019: Yuvraj Singh slams young guns for their sloppy fielding in first T20I

India will be chasing 208 runs in the first T20I.

Washington Sundar missed two easy chances | ScreengrabThe first T20I of the three-match series between India and West Indies is being played at the RGIC Stadium in Hyderabad. India won the toss and chose to field first.

The Kieron Pollard-led team proved to be quite a handful for the home side, scoring 207/5 in 20 overs with Shimron Hetmyer making 56, Evin Lewis scoring 40 and valuable contributions from Brandon King (31), Jason Holder (24* in 9 balls) and Pollard himself adding 37 in 19 balls. The pitch is as flat as it can be for Hyderabad and Indian bowlers suffered a lot.

However, in addition to that, Men in Blue were let down by some sloppy fielding which was highlighted by former India stalwart Yuvraj Singh, who tweeted, “India very poor on the field today ! Young guns reacting a bit late on the ball! Too much cricket?? Let’s get these runs come on lads

He was correct in his assessment, given that Washington Sundar dropped two catches, and Kohli and Rohit one each, meanwhile Deepak Chahar let the ball go for a boundary, in what can be termed a poor effort. Overall, one might say that it was an off day for the Indian team as far as fielding is concerned.
