India's opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the T20I squad against West Indies after failing to recover from left-knee injury. Kerala batsman Sanju Samson is set to be included back in the squad for the series which will kick-off from December 06.

Dhawan had suffered an injury during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 game for Delhi earlier this month. He had undergone surgery and posted a picture on Twitter.

But unfortunately, India's southpaw batsman won't be a part of the series. "Dhawan suffered a deep cut on his left knee during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game against Maharashtra in Surat. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him on Tuesday to review the healing of his wound. The BCCI Medical Team has suggested that Dhawan needs some more time for his stitches to come off and his wound to heal completely," BCCI said in a statement released on Wednesday.

India cricket fans were happy for Sanju Samson who was ruled out of the squad without given a single opportunity against Bangladesh. He was disappointed after being axed from the squad. But now he has an opportunity to make it count.
