Having impressed one and all in his debut T20I series against Bangladesh earlier this month, Shivam Dube on Thursday (November 21) received his maiden ODI call-up for the upcoming series against West Indies at home.

Apart from his hard-hitting skills, Dube can also deliver seam-ups effectively at a pace of around 130 kph. But like any other multi-skilled cricketer, the 26-year-old doesn't like being categorized as a batting or a bowling all-rounder.

"I am a perfect all-rounder," he told TOI in an exclusive interview.

Dube is currently featuring in the Super League round of the Syed Mushtaq Trophy (Domestic T20 tournament) for Mumbai. He failed in Mumbai's seven-wicket loss to Tamil Nadu on Friday, hitting 1 run and conceding 12 in his only over. But the youngster is keen to work hard and do all it takes to prove his mettle at the international level.

"I have always worked on my game. I have always tried to enhance my skills as an allrounder. Also, I need to stay a lot more fitter because i have a dual role to play. So I have ensured that I put in the hard hours to maintain my fitness," he said before adding: "I know I can do well at the highest level. I would like to believe that when I am batting, I can compete with the best of bowlers, similarly while I am bowling, I am confident that I can compete with the best of batsmen."

Reacting on his ODI call-up, the Mumbai all-rounder said: "I was first picked up for T20Is and now I got a call for the ODI team. Obviously, I am happy."

Dube feels that being part of the white-ball set-up will help him spend more productive time with top players.

"It was simply fabulous to share the dressing room with such good players. Rohit (Sharma) bhai helped me a lot. Besides, the support staff is also fantastic. They help every player and make sure all the players are comfortable," he concluded.
