IND v WI 2018: Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sundar likely to play in the third T20I

India have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against West Indies.

Iyer and Sundar may get a go in the third T20I

India might have clinched the T20I series against West Indies but the hosts batsmen would be keen to build on the momentum in the third match at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Sunday. Moreover, the Chepauk track promises to be full of runs.

As per a report in TOI, the strip is hard and dry. With no shower forecast in the next three days, the deck is expected to become drier and will help the Indian spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Krunal Pandya.

“The track will behave true and both the Indian and West Indies batsmen can score big if they apply themselves,” an official told TOI.

Given that India’s tour in Australia starts with the T20 series in Brisbane on November 21, the Men in Blue would like to take the Chennai T20I as a practice match. Therefore, rookies like Shreyas Iyer and Washington Sundar might get a chance to showcase their skills. It will also provide a platform for players like KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant to convert their starts.

Report also claims that the Indian players will arrive in Chennai on the eve of the match.

“They have defeated West Indies in Test, ODI and T20 series. So they are enjoying a well-deserved Diwali break. They will be here only on Saturday,” the official stated.

India’s T20I squad vs West Indies:

Rohit Sharma(c), Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, Dinesh Karthik, Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, K Khaleel Ahmed, Umesh Yadav, Shahbaz Nadeem
