IND v WI 2018: Azharuddin feels Rishabh Pant should be allowed to keep wickets

Azharuddin feels Kuldeep Yadav will be “a major force” in coming days for the Indian cricket.

Mohammed Azharuddin believes that Rishabh Pant is a better wicketkeeper than Dinesh Karthik and Indian Cricket Team Management should give him the responsibility with the gloves in the upcoming matches and even in the ongoing T20 International series against the West Indies.

Probably, Azharuddin might have made comment and bat for Pant for the wicket keeping role after limited overs regular MS Dhoni was ignored for both West Indies and Australia T20Is.

Former Indian skipper further went on to claim that Pant is a good player and now he needs more games to learn, saying his keeping needs to improve a lot and for which coming matches will be crucial for him to work on his skills behind the stumps.

On Sunday (November 4), Azharuddin told reporters, “One got to bank on Pant. If he is good enough to keep wickets in Test matches in England than why not T20? And, no doubt that he showed better skills in England than Karthik.”

He further added on the same, “I honestly feel Rishabh should have kept wickets today. When you are a keeper, you should keep wickets. He is a good player. He has done well. The more he keeps, the more he will learn. I think his keeping needs to improve a lot though.”

Azhar also reckoned that the left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav will be “a major force” in coming days for the Indian cricket. He signed off by saying, “Kuldeep has fast emerged as a good bowler. Now, he is bowling well and improving every day. In the years to come, he will be a major force.”
