Team India’s struggles with DRS continued during their 5-match series against the Windies. The Indian team was often guilty of using up reviews early in the innings and often they are wasted. Usually, Kohli consulted with MS Dhoni before opting for the reviews, but in the 5th ODI of the series, even the master got it wrong.
In the 16th over of the Windies innings, Jadeja trapped Shimron Hetmyer right in front of the stumps and appealed to the umpire for LBW. When the umpire didn’t seem so interested, Jadeja insisted to Kohli to go for a review, but MS Dhoni was seen gesturing to Kohli to think about it and be cautious of wasting a review.
Jadeja, however, convinced Kohli to go for a review, which Kohli did with a smile on his face. As far as the delivery is concerned, coming around the wicket, pitched the ball short in line with the stumps and Hetmyer looked to defend it on the backfoot. However, he got into the tangle only for the ball to hit his front pad.
The Hawkeye confirmed that confirmed that the ball was thudding into the stumps and the stadium erupted. MS Dhoni was also all smiles as Team India celebrated the big wicket of Hetmyer. For a change, Jadeja had proved Dhoni wrong in opting for the review.
Windies performed poorly when it came to their batting, as they were bundled for 104 runs in 32 overs with Jadeja picking 4/34.
