IND v WI 2018: Brian Lara reveals the name who can be Virat Kohli for West Indies

Brain Lara impressed with West Indies' show in India.

Shai Hope | AFP West Indies might have been surprised cricketing circles for their laudable show in the ongoing five-match One Day International series in India, but Brian Lara feels that the Caribbean side still ‘have a lot of room for improvement is a big facet’.

However, Lara is impressed with the Windies’ show in the ODI series, saying beating India in their own backyard is not an easy achievement but there are still a lot of things where they have to work on very soon, as there are only a few months left for the next mega ICC event – World Cup 2019.

According to a report in Cricketnext, Lara said in an interview at News 18, “The fact that West Indies could win a game and still have a lot of room for improvement is a big facet.”

The legendary batsman is also highly impressed with Shai Hope’s performance in India, saying that he should be able to do what Virat Kohli does for India. “Shai Hope is an excellent player. I’ll always go back to those centuries in both innings of the Test match at Headingley against England. I felt from that point, it should’ve been a watershed moment in his career, telling him exactly how good a cricketer he is.”

He signed off by saying, “And here he is in India, his counterpart, the person who is batting at number three for India, Virat Kohli; he doesn’t need to be anywhere else. He should be just looking at Virat Kohli, how he puts together an innings, how he anchors his team. And, that’s what he has to do for the West Indies.”
