India and West Indies are playing the third ODI of the five-match series at the MCA stadium in Pune. The series stands as 1-0 in favor of Indian team after India won the first match and second match was a tie.

However, this match was special for someone else, not related to either the Indian or the Windies team and that was match referee Chris Broad from England. Broad, who has played 25 Tests and 34 ODIs for England from 1984-1989, is officiating his 300th match as an ICC official.

Chris Broad, who is father of England fast bowler Stuart Broad, turned ICC official in 2003, was the match referee for the infamous Second Test of the Sri Lanka in Pakistan series of 2009 and was in convoy of vehicles when terrorists opened fire on the vehicles including the bus that carried the Sri Lankan national team in Lahore, Pakistan.

Virat Kohli, captain of the Indian team in the third ODI presented Broad with a trophy on becoming only the second match referee to officiate in 300 international matches, after Ranjan Madugalle of Sri Lanka (564).
