Former Indian batsman and legend Sunil Gavaskar has compared the might of country's current best player Virat Kohli with arguably the greatest ever, Sir Donald Bradman.

Virat, who has been in absolutely mindboggling form this year across all formats, followed his outstanding knock of 140 in the first ODI at Guwahati, with a dominating 157* during the second at Visakhapatnam, where he also completed 10,000 ODI runs and became the quickest to reach the humoungous feat, in only 213 games and 205 innings.

Having enjoyed all of that from a very close quarter, Gavaskar showered huge praise on Virat in his latest column for Times of India and wrote, “Kohli's consistency is beyond phenomenal but more important is how he reads the situation and is aware of what the team needs and so adjusts his game accordingly,” before adding, “When he walks into bat there is not the slightest doubt that he is going to get a century and the only time this kind of feeling was previously generated was when the one and only Sir Don walked out to bat.”

He further stated, “Sir Don was reputed to walk jauntily in to bat while Virat walks in with a purposeful swagger and none of the opposition wants to make eye contact with him," and stressed, "Yes, he is human when India are fielding for that's when you see the emotions come through as the game ebbs and flows.”

The third ODI at Pune takes place on Saturday, October 27.
