IND v WI 2018: Virat Kohli’s monumental achievement receives praise from Pakistan Cricket Board

Virat Kohli scored 157* in 129 balls and broke numerous records in the process.

Virat Kohli | AFPThough the second ODI between India and West Indies at Vizag might have ended up in a tie, Virat Kohli’s performance was lauded all over the world in cricketing circles.

The Indian captain hit a marvelous 157* and during the course, became the fastest Indian to reach the 10,000 runs mark in ODI history in just 205 innings, leaving the great Sachin Tendulkar behind. Sachin had taken 259 innings to get there.

The 29-year-old Delhi batsman is fifth Indian to reach the 10,000-run mark and the fourth to do so for India and 13th batsmen overall to achieve the feat in the format. Kohli joined Tendulkar (18426), Sourav Ganguly (11221) and Rahul Dravid (10768) to reach the elite club.

MS Dhoni has also scored over 10000 ODI runs (10123) but only 9949 of those have been scored for India. The other 174 runs came for Asia XI.

He received the Man of the Match award and also got applauded from everyone on social media for his achievement. He even got praises from across the border, as the Pakistan Cricket Board wished Virat Kohli from their official Twitter account.
