Indian cricket team crushed West Indies by eight wickets in the first ODI. The target of 323 was made look easy by the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma. You can understand it by the fact that India chased down the target with 47 balls left. 

Virat scored quick 140 runs and Rohit remained unbeaten on 152 during the chase. India never looked in trouble when these two were having a good time in the middle. After the first wicket, which India lost in second over, West Indies were hit by the storming partnership of Virat and Rohit from where they never recovered. 

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly was really impressed by the eye-catching performance by the Indian stalwarts. 

“It was a fantastic performance. It never felt as if they are under pressure of a stiff target. They easily won the match and I strongly believe they will seal the series too,” Ganguly told IndiaTV during the show ‘Cricket Ki Baat’.
 
Talking about the Indian skipper, Ganguly went on to compare his charisma with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar.

“Virat Kohli is a great player. Anything is possible for him. In the 80s we had Gavaskar, then Sachin came and now we have Virat Kohli. With his impressive strokeplay, he also inspires other batsmen. Kohli is like a diamond in the team. He makes batting look so easy when he comes at the crease,” said Ganguly.

While lauding Virat, Ganguly didn't leave Rohit out. He said the way Sharma has matured himself in the last two years is admirable. 

“He (Rohit) is no less than Virat Kohli. He started slow yesterday but anchored the innings and led India to the victory. He has gained confidence in his game with time. In captaincy too, he has proved his mettle. This is the time for the selectors to take Rohit along on the Australian tour for the Test series. He has matured a lot in last two years,” Ganguly noted.
