Explosive left-hand opening batsman Evin Lewis has taken his name back from the original squad selected by Cricket West Indies(CWI) for the limited-overs leg of the ongoing tour of India, due to personal reasons.

The board officially confirmed the development on Wednesday, October 17 and drafted in Kieran Powel and Nicholas Pooran as Lewis' replacement for the ODI and T20I series, respectively.

Lewis backing out is another major blow to the Jason Holder led side, which is already bereft of experienced match-winners like Chris Gayle, Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo.

The move from Lewis isn't surprising either, as he recently declined a white-ball contract with the CWI and expressed going down the route of becoming a professional T20 cricketer in leagues around the world.

On the other hand, Obed McCoy, who impressed in the Caribbean Premier League recently, has also been added to the ODI squad as a possible replacement for fast-bowler Alzarri Joseph, who will remain under observation until a return to full fitness.

The first ODI at Guwahati takes place on Sunday, October 21.

ODI squad(updated): Jason Holder (C), Fabian Allen, Sunil Ambris, Devendra Bishoo, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Obed McCoy, Ashley Nurse, Keemo Paul, Kieran Powell, Rovman Powell, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Oshane Thomas

T20I squad: Carlos Brathwaite (C), Fabian Allen, Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer, Obed McCoy, Ashley Nurse, Keemo Paul, Khary Pierre, Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, Denesh Ramdin, Andre Russell, Sherfane Rutherford, Oshane Thomas
