BCCI has announced the replacement for Shardul Thakur who will miss the five-match ODI series against West Indies due to a right adductor tendon injury he suffered on the very first day of his debut Test at Hyderabad. Shardul bowled only 10 deliveries in the match and batted at 11 with great discomfort.

Umesh Yadav will replace Shardul in the squad for the first two matches after bowling India to a win with his 10-wicket haul in the second Test. India has rested Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar from the first two matches. Umesh will join Mohammad Shami and Khaleel Ahmed as the only three pacers in the squad.

First ODI of the series will be played on October 21 in Guwahati. India will be looking to continue their domination over West Indies, who will be missing several of their top one-day players including Chris Gayle.
