Playing under extreme heat for a day can be tiring and players would not be able to give their hundred percent if they are knocked down by the hot weather. They can't afford to let the heat take a toll on them and hence there must be a method to beat the heat. For Team India, it's the ice bath which helps them to not get affected by the heat.

Recently, playing in Hyderabad was a challenge for the Indian players. But they did well to endure it. Trainer Shanker Basu explained more about the ice bath and said Indian players are following it for a while now.

"The importance of ice bath, there have been many papers written on it and there are many modes of recovery. We have over a period of time fine-tuned a few things for our team. There are certain guys who never go for the ice bath while certain guys love it. It all depends on results. In the sub-continent, the ice bath does work,” Basu said.

Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane was shown taking an ice bath. Basu said that Rahane is so hard working that at times he needs to stop him. “Jinx is an unbelievably hardworking freak. He is after us (trainers). At times I have to stop him from working hard,” he said.

Explaining why he likes the ice bath, Rahane said: “When you come back after fielding for 90 overs, the ice bath helps in recovery. Basically, it helps maintain your body temperature and the stiffness goes. It helps in quick recovery and that is why I prefer the ice bath."
