Before the start of Day 3, there was a sense of anticipation that India has finally got complete control and hold of the slightly tricky game situation that they found themselves in.
Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant had stretched together a fantastic sixth-wicket partnership to take India well within reach of the West Indies first innings score of 311 and it was thought, they would easily take the lead and the game away from the West Indies, but the young and admirable Jason Holder was intent on other ideas.
Holder gave an outstanding example of what leading from the front is all about, as he helped the West Indies run through the Indian batting line-up in the first session itself, to everyone's surprise.
On what increasingly becoming a new ball surface because of the uneven bounce and lateral seam movement off the surface, Holder started off brilliantly, as he removed the good-looking Ajinkya Rahane for 80 and then simply went past the defense of Ravindra Jadeja for a duck on the next ball.
Holder dislodged Kuldeep Yadav's off-stump to complete his third consecutive five-wicket haul in Test cricket. It was the first time a West Indies pacer has taken a five-fer in India since 1994. Holder, who scored absolutely vital 52 runs in the first innings, finished with figures of 5-56, his fifth five-wicket haul in Test match cricket.
He, along with the world-class Shannon Gabriel, ensured that they limit India's lead to just 56 runs, when it threatened to be much more before the day's play began.
All eyes were now on West Indies' inexperienced batting line up and India's bowling prowess and the latter prevailed quite substantially.
Like an over-empowered force, Umesh Yadav followed his outstanding performance of 6-88 in the first innings with a magnificent 4-45 in the second.
Umesh, again, got crucial breakthroughs, as he not only removed Kraigg Braithwaite (0) for another cheap score but also, very importantly, went past the defense of first innings centurion, Roston Chase (6).
Umesh was very ably supported by the might of Ravichandran Ashwin (10-4-2-24) and Ravindra Jadeja (11-5-3-12) as well as young Kuldeep Yadav, who followed his 3-85 in the first innings with another learning spell of 1-45.
India's bowling strength eventually proved to be the difference in a closely contested Test, as West Indies got bowled out for a poor third innings score of 127 in 46.1 overs, to set the home side a target of just 72.
Chasing it, in the third session, openers Prithvi Shaw (33*) and KL Rahul (33*) got off to a dominating start, as they punished the West Indies new ball bowlers - Jason Holder and Jomel Warrican - and raced their way through to take India past the finishing line.
Long way to go for them but Jason Holder's "Windies" can be proud to have pushed India hard, when no one gave them a chance after the first Test.
India clinched their 101st home Test win and won the 2-match Test series by a margin of 2-0. This was their 10th successive Test series win at home.
