Virat Kohli’s record-breaking spree doesn’t seem to stop. During the second day of the second Test against the West Indies in Hyderabad, Kohli became the most prolific Asian captain with the bat in red-ball cricket.

Kohli surpassed former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq’s tally of runs to become the proud owner of this record. While Misbah had scored 4214 runs in 56 Tests at an average of 51.39 with 8 centuries, Virat now has 4233 runs to his name in 42 matches at a staggering average of 65.12 with 17 Test tons.

Moreover, Kohli’s average is the best among all the batsmen who have captained their side all around the world. Former South Africa skipper Graeme Smith holds the record of most Test runs as a captain. In 109 Tests as a captain, Smith had scored 8659 runs at an average of 47.84 with 25 centuries.

During the first Test against the West Indies in Rajkot, Kohli also became the quickest batsman to reach 24 Test hundreds after the great Don Bradman. While the Indian captain took 123 innings to reach the milestone, Bradman had achieved the same in 66 innings.
