The second Test between India and West Indies moved into the second day and West Indies’ innings ended at 311 with Roston Chase making 106.
Indian bowling was on point and the best bowler by far was Umesh Yadav, who took on the load of fast bowling single-handedly as his partnership Shardul Thakur broke down with a groin injury on his debut after bowling 10 balls on day one.
Kuldeep Yadav picked 3/85 and Umesh too had picked three wickets on day one. Umesh then came back on day two and helped wrap up the Windies innings by picking the remaining three wickets to end up with his career best 6/88.
The cricket fraternity on Twitter was in awe of Umesh’s performance, given that he single-handedly took the load of fast bowling and returned with six wickets.
Here are some tweets praising his performance:
The beast is back with a bang ! Hard work never goes in vain. Great spell @y_umesh ???? #INDvsWI

Wonderful innings by #RostonChase. He’s got potential and should bat at no 5. Congratulations to @y_umesh for a fine bowling performance. True workhorse of the Indian bowling attack. pic.twitter.com/7nyEO6pIcw

Of flat Indian tracks, Umesh Tadav has picked up wickets consistently with high pace and late swing. Surprisingly, he’s rarely first choice in more helpful conditions overseas

Congrats @y_umesh for your second five-wicket haul. Terrific fast bowling on a lifeless pitch ???? #INDvWI pic.twitter.com/K62PoVMQk3

6 wickets for @y_umesh. After bowling his first 10-12 overs, he could extract good amount of pace and swing with the older ball on a pitch which looks flat. Well done! #INDvWI pic.twitter.com/F0NfIjp5Lp

Umesh a different bowler when he gets that late outswinger going, wasn’t happening yesterday, seamer spots for the tour down under, later in the year up for grabs, it’s getting interesting #INDvsWI

He must produce such performances more often for his own good as well as team’s.#WIvIND
Umesh Express....bowling lots of overs is what he needed. Shardul’s absence a blessings in disguise for him in this Test. #IndvWI
