IND v WI 2018: Kolkata and Mumbai retain India-WI matches

BCCI has agreed to pay the vendors of MCA and host match at Wankhede.

Eden Gardens, KolkataThe cricket fans in Mumbai and Kolkata can now breathe a sigh of relief as both Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) have managed to retain their respective matches of the India and West Indies limited overs series.

TOI has learnt that the fourth ODI between India and West Indies, on October 29, will be held at the Wankhede Stadium, while the first T20I scheduled for November 4 will stay in Eden.

Now only Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) is left to give its decision as it has to host the last T20I of the series on November 11.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) sent its consent letter today. The TNCA is likely to respond to us by tomorrow," said a BCCI source.

MCA had requested BCCI to host the ODI in Wankhede citing lack of a signing authority to clear payments after the term of the Committee of Administrators' ended on September 15. On Wednesday, the BCCI agreed after Board CEO Rahul Johri took the MCA's request to the CoA in Hyderabad.

"Since the MCA is facing an administrative vacuum, the BCCI will pay the vendors for the match, and adjust it against the association later. On Thursday, the BCCI and the MCA will formally sign the agreement for the match," said a source in the Board.

"The BCCI had some constitutional difficulties, but Johri has been very helpful. The BCCI understands that it won't reflect well on the Board's image if the match goes out of Mumbai," the source said.

The CAB has agreed to host the T20I, after initially citing a problem with just 5% complimentary passes that were being made available to the associations.
