Shaw became the second youngest Indian to score a century after Sachin Tendulkar | AFPIndia registered a massive innings and 272 runs win over the Windies team in the first Test of the two-match series in Rajkot.

West Indies were routed for 181 and 196 (f/o) in their two innings with only Roston Chase (53) and Kieran Powell (83) making fifties in the Test match for the visitors. R Ashwin picked four wickets in the first innings and then Kuldeep Yadav took his maiden Test fifer (5/57) in the second innings with Jadeja picking three wickets.

This all came after India declared on 649/9d with Virat Kohli (139), Ravindra Jadeja (100*) and Prithvi Shaw (134) scoring hundreds and Cheteshwar Pujara making 86.

The Test was special with 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw marking his debut with a scintillatingly dominant century off just 99 balls. This was the third fastest century on debut in terms of balls taken and he was the fourth youngest batsman to score a century on debut. He became the second youngest Indian to score a century in Tests after Sachin Tendulkar and this only made the comparisons between him and the master more pronounced.

Indian captain Virat Kohli, who scored his 24th Test century, congratulated the young rookie with a message on Instagram saying, “Top win and top knock from this youngster! ????????@prithvishaw #INDvsWI
