Team India started the two-match Test series against the visiting West Indies with a crushing innings win at Rajkot. The Indian spinners combined with centuries from Virat Kohli, Prithvi Shaw and Ravindra Jadeja left Windies with no scope of any comeback.
After piling up a mammoth 649/9d thanks to a debut 134 by Shaw, 139 by captain Kohli and a maiden 100* from Jadeja, Team India began to pile on the misery on West Indies batsmen. Ashwin took 4/37 in the Windies first innings, as only Roston Chase managed a score of substance with 53, as the team crumbled for 181.
India got a lead of 468 and Windies was asked to follow-on and their batsmen went for glory over guts and decided to take on the Indian spinners and failed miserably. Kuldeep Yadav took his maiden fifer (5/57) in Test cricket, while Ashwin and Jadeja played supporting roles.
India dismissed West Indies for 196 and won the match by an innings and 272 runs
Twitter was following the exploits of the Indian team against West Indies and praised the home team for their win via tweets.
Here are some of the tweets:
In just over a day, the West Indies, sorry the Windies, have been bowled out twice on a perfectly good pitch. Just another illustration of the problems facing our game.

West Indies annihilated in under 3 days. Not quite the hard preparation India are seeking before the tour Down Under

Gee the Windies worked really hard to earn themselves a little over two days of rest from Test Cricket..didn’t they..??!!!

That’s too easy a win. Batting twice, WI couldn’t cross the follow- on score. Will remember this for Shaw and Pant’s fearlessness

India were expected to win but this is sheer domination.

Windies batted out just three sessions for two innings but on the other side India batted out four sessions just for their one innings. Tells you the story #INDvWI
Wasn’t really a contest that one. Easy win and India doing what they do so well in these conditions. Good game for almost everyone. #IndvWI

So 8 sessions is all it took. That’s as clinical as it gets. Really impressed with the all-round bowling effort. #IndvWI
