IND v WI 2018: 1st Test, Day 3- West Indies commit hara-kiri as Kuldeep 5/57 gives India win by inns and 272 runs

This is Team India's biggest win by an innings margin.

Prithvi Shaw, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja hit centuries for India | AFPWest Indies started day three on the overnight score of 94/6 and things went downhill for them as the day progressed.

Roston Chase hit 53 and Keemo Paul hit 47 to drag the Windies innings to 181 with R Ashwin picking 4/37 and Mohammad Shami picking 2/22. Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja too picked a wicket apiece.

India achieved their third highest first innings lead of 468 runs and Virat Kohli enforced the follow-on. Many would have expected a fight back and a bit more application from the Windies’ batsmen in the second innings, after having a look at the pitch and conditions. However, things remained the same, as West Indian batsmen decided to hit out instead of playing patiently.

R Ashwin picked four wickets in the first innings | APOnly Kieran Powell managed to apply himself for 83 runs off 93 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. Apart from him, Roston Chase made 20, while remaining of them got out in trying to dominate the Indian spinners and failing.

Kuldeep Yadav was the star of the Indian bowling attack with his first Test five-wicket haul. He removed the likes of Powell, Hope, Hetmyer, Ambris, and Chase. He was well supported by Ashwin (2/71) and Jadeja (3/35) who created pressure from the other end.

In the end, India completed the formalities on day three after tea and dismissed West Indies for 196 in the second innings to win the match by an innings and 272 runs. This becomes India’s biggest win by an innings.
