In an ideal world, their inexperienced batting line-up would've been bolstered already with his presence for the ongoing two-match Test series against India, now though, Chris Gayle might also not feature in the limited-overs leg of the tour for the West Indies.

According to the reports coming in, the left-handed batting stalwart from the Caribbean will not be playing the five-match ODI series in India since he has already declined selection from the Cricket West Indies.

The CWI has already issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Gayle for the inaugural edition of Afghanistan Premier League (APL), that runs from October 7-21. The ODI series against India is set to kickstart on exactly the day APL finishes off, with the first match at Guwahati and the last at Thiruvananthapuram on November 1.

It is not clear whether Gayle will make himself available for the three-match T20I series that begins in Kolkata from November 4, either.

Cricket West Indies(CWI), which has said that Gayle’s selection for the 2019 World Cup is "not guaranteed and neither it is automatic", is yet to name the squad for the ODI series and is expected to make an announcement in the next few days.

Gayle took to the social media network, Twitter and confirmed that he will be playing for Balkh Legends in the Afghanistan Premier League.
