IND v WI 2018: Harbhajan Singh raises questions over quality of this West Indies team

Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli completed their centuries as India piled up 649/9d.

Mohammad Shami picked two early wickets | APWest Indies has its hands full with the Indian team in the first Test of the two-match series after the Indian team declared for 649/9 in the first innings on the back of centuries from Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.

Cheteshwar Pujara (86) and Rishabh Pant (92) also provided wonderful support to Kohli and Jadeja, as Kohli brought up his 24th Test ton and completed 1000 runs in the calendar year. Jadeja shepherded the tail well to bring up his maiden Test ton and justified his selection as a genuine all-rounder.

Devendra Bishoo was the pick of the Windies bowlers with 4/217 in 54 overs. When the chance came to bat, Windies found themselves wanting as they were reduced to 74/6 with Shami picking two wickets and the three spinners picking a wicket each.

This sort of performance from the visitors made Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh question the quality of the Windies team that has come to play in India. Given that Windies are missing two of their top players in pacer Kemar Roach and captain Jason Holder; they are struggling to counter the Indian spinners of the turning Rajkot pitch.

Harbhajan tweeted, “With all due respect to West Indies Cricket but I have a question for u all...will this west Indies team qualify for Ranji quarters from the plate group? Elite se to nahin hoga ???? #INDvsWI
