IND v WI 2018: WATCH – Ajit Agarkar wants Rishabh Pant in place of MS Dhoni in ODIs vs. Windies

MS Dhoni's form has waned off significantly since his IPL 2018 exploits.

Pant played an audacious innings of 92 off 84 balls | AFPRishabh Pant lit the Rajkot ground on fire on day two of the first Test between India and West Indies, after the first day belonging to Prithvi Shaw’s debut Test century.

Pant hit 8 fours and 4 sixes in his 84-ball 92 runs before holding out to Keemo Paul off the bowling of Devendra Bishoo. This inning comes after his amazing century against England in the last Test at the Oval in which he showed that he had what it takes to play at this level.

With another brilliant show with the bat, Rishabh Pant has staked his claim for inclusion in the limited overs Indian side as well, given MS Dhoni’s sketchy form of the late.

This sentiment was echoed by former India bowler Ajit Agarkar in ESPNCricinfo show Match Day. Agarkar called for resting MS Dhoni from the five-match ODI series and including Rishabh Pant in his place.

MS Dhoni had a quiet series in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2018, where he scored a duck and couple of 30 odd run innings. His series against England was also below par and his hitting abilities have waned quite a bit. Many experts have brought his role at no.5 or no.6 in question and say that he is no longer the finisher we know.

Pant, on the other hand, has reveled in his hitting abilities as visible from his innings against West Indies and it has become hard to ignore his impact in white-ball cricket as well given his IPL exploits.
