The Mumbai wunderkind Prithvi Shaw finally got his chance at glory as he became the 293rd player to play Test cricket for India. Shaw, who was roped in the Indian squad against West Indies for the two-Test series, was also in the squad for the last two Tests against England recently.
Shaw got to show his talent and class, as Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat first. Shaw hit the ball to all parts of the ground and looked visibly comfortable against short pitch bowling and wrist spin of Devendra Bishoo.
Shaw completed his century off 99 balls, making him the third fastest centurion on debut and 15th Indian to achieve the debut century feat.
Mumbai Police tweeted a funny message in wishing fellow Mumbaikar Shaw on his debut Test century, saying “From our 100 to yours! It’s always a good start... the very best to you @PrithviShaw #Dial100”
