The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) had decided that every visiting team will have to play tour games against Afghanistan A or U-19 in India, but this time it will not happen as Afghanistan are busy in the International schedule, confirmed sources.

As BCCI and ACB decided in May this year in Kabul that Afghanistan will have to play tour games against every visiting team in India, they also have to play against West Indies in tour games, as the Caribbean side will arrive India next week for the two-match series against Men in Blue in October.

The sources have revealed on Sunday (September 23) that Afghanistan will not be featuring in any practice fixtures against West Indies, as the ‘A’ team players are gearing up for the Afghanistan Premier League, while the U-19 team is heading to Bangladesh for the Asia Cup in the first week of October.

Now, Windies will play a two-day warm-up game against the Board President’s XI in Vadodara from September 29 with the Test series get underway with the first Test in Rajkot from October 4.

Sources told Sportstar, “There is a lot of cricket happening in the next few months, so there won’t be any time for the Afghanistan cricketers to play any tour games now.”

At the moment, Afghanistan A players are gearing up for the inaugural edition of Afghanistan Premier League (APL) in Kabul, while the U-19 players are presently training in Greater Noida for the U19 Asia Cup under the watchful eyes of coach Andy Moles, who has not heard of any 'tour games' with West Indies.

Moles signed off by saying, “We are lucky to be supported by the BCCI so much, but. We are traveling to Dhaka on September 27 for the U-19 Asia Cup, and as far I know, the A team is preparing for the APL. I haven't heard of any tour matches (against the West Indies) this time.”
