West Indian pace sensation Sherman Lewis is all set to make his international debut, as he has been included in the 15-man squad for the upcoming India tour on September 18 (Tuesday) after Alzarri Joseph ruled out of the tour with a stress fracture.

Cricbuzz has reported that Cricket West Indies (CWI) medical panel has suggested that Alzarri should be "allowed to continue his rehabilitation to full fitness for international competitions" following two fitness assessments, in which, he was not found 100% fit to play at the moment.

Joseph had suffered a stress fracture last November, though, he has featured in the international cricket since the injury, playing the home series against Bangladesh in July, as well as, turned up for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the recently-concluded Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2018.

Now, the 21-year-old will continue his rehabilitation programme under the monitoring of medical officials at the High-Performance Centre in Antigua.

Meanwhile, Lewis earned the maiden call for India tour following his string of brilliant performances in the domestic cricket, as he made his first-class debut for the Windward Islands last March and instantly made an impact with 30 wickets at an average of 21.66 in the debut season in the regional four-day Championship. Later, the fast-bowler picked for Windies A squad for England tour, where Lewis picked four-fers in both innings to help his side draw the game in the first unofficial Test against India A.

Noteworthy, West Indies players are already started training in Dubai's ICC Academy as a part of their preparation for the Indian Test series, starting from October 4, 2018.
