With a 2-0 thrashing at the hands of the hosts India in the three-match T20 International series, Sri Lanka captain Lasith Malinga has registered an unwanted record as captain in the format.

After losing the second T20I in Indore, the Islanders suffered a massive defeat of 78 runs in the final T20I at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Friday (January 10) to lose the series 2-0 to India with the first match washed out without a ball being bowled in Guwahati.

It was Malinga’s 14th defeat in the T20Is as Sri Lanka captain on Friday, as the veteran pacer has now registered a dubious record to his name in the shortest format of the game.
