Shoaib Akhtar, former Pakistan fast-bowler, on Sunday (October 13), slammed South Africa’s below-par performance in the ongoing Freedom Series against India after tourists lost the three-match Test series with a humiliating defeat in the Pune Test.

So far in the ongoing Test series, the Proteas side hasn’t shown a great fight against the formidable hosts, as they lost the first by 203 runs in Vizag and now lost the second by an innings and 137 runs in Pune to continue their horrible form across the formats since World Cup 2019.

Having declared their innings at 601/5, India brilliantly bowled out South Africa for 275 before revealing the follow-on and then another brilliant effort by the bowlers limited the Proteas for just 189 in Pune to complete a 2-0 win the ongoing Test series at home.

It was India’s 11th successive Test series triumph at home and Shoaib congratulated Virat Kohli and his team for their achievement while expressing disappointment at South Africa’s below-par performance in the ongoing Freedom Series.

After tourists’ embarrassing defeat in the ongoing Freedom Series, Shoaib took to Twitter to slam South Africa’s recent below-par captaincy and performance for their recent performances.

He wrote on Twitter, “Disappointed with South Africa’s performance. First, ODI failure in the World Cup. Now Test Cricket also going down. I don’t see the potential. Captaincy & performance really below par. Nevertheless, winning 11 series in a row at home is a big achievement. Congrats India.”

Noteworthy, the third and final Test between India and South Africa will be played from 19 October at Jharkhand States Cricket Association International Cricket Stadium, in Ranchi.
