Team India was really good on Day 2 of this ongoing second Test against South Africa at Pune as they declared with 601 runs on the board at the loss of 5 wickets and then reduced the visitors to 36/3 at stumps.

The Indian skipper Virat Kohli was at his best as he scored his career-best unbeaten 254 off 336 deliveries. This was the 7th double century of the Delhi lad which is most by any Indian batsman.

While all the fans and cricket pundits were praising Kohli for his batting, former India opener Gautam Gambhir praised the right-hander for his winning mindset and also added that according to him, former skippers like Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni had a defensive mindset.

I support Virat’s decision of 5 bowlers. Look I’ve played a lot under MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly but all had that defensive mindset to draw test matches instead of winning. Virat has a mindset of winning test matches either at home or overseas!” Gambhir said while speaking on Star Sports.

In 2018-19, under Kohli’s captaincy, India won their maiden Test series in Australia. The bowling department, which has as many as three lead pacers, is the best in the present era and add to it Kohli’s leadership skills.

Talking of Gambhir, his last Test had come against England in 2016 under Kohli. In an international career of 12 years, Gambhir played 58 Tests and 147 ODIs scoring 4154 and 5238 runs, respectively. Gambhir also led India in six ODIs, leading the team to victory in all the matches.
