IND v SA 2019: Cricket fraternity lauds Virat Kohli’s amazing 254*; India declares on 601/5

Ravindra Jadeja made 91 runs | TwitterThe second Test between India and South Africa being played at MCA stadium in Pune turned out to be more of a massacre of the South African bowlers, on the second day. The day belonged to Indian captain Virat Kohli, who stamped his authority on the match with his highest Test score.

India resumed from 273/3 and kept piling on runs, as Rahane and Kohli kept going on at the Proteas bowlers. Rahane fell for 59 runs after putting on a 178-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Just when Faf du Plessis and co would have thought that they might have a sigh of relief, Ravindra Jadeja walked in and with him at the crease, even Kohli started to up the run rate.

Jadeja and Kohli took on the spinners and pummeled them into the ground, as Keshav Maharaj ended up with figures of 1/196 in 50 overs and Senuran Muthusamy’s figures read 1/97 in 19.3 overs. Even debutant Anrich Nortje failed to pick a wicket but gave 100 runs in his 25 overs.

Virat Kohli became the fastest to 21,000 international runs | AFPKohli and Jadeja added 225 runs for the fifth wicket before Jadeja fell for 91 runs and Kohli remained unbeaten on 254 runs with 33 fours and 2 sixes. This was his highest Test score and he became the fastest to reach 21,000 international runs in just 392 matches.

India declared on 601/5 with the fall of Jadeja’s wicket and the Cricket fraternity took to Twitter to applaud a masterclass innings from captain Virat Kohli.
