Team India continued their dominance in red-ball cricket, recording an emphatic 203-run victory in the Test series opener against South Africa in Visakhapatnam on Sunday (October 6).

There were quite a few stars for India in this win. With the bat, openers Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal did a great job. While Rohit became the first-ever batsman to score hundreds (176 & 127) in each innings of his maiden Test as an opener, Agarwal registered his maiden double ton (215) in the first essay.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (7/145) and pacer Mohammad Shami (5/35) shined with the ball in the first and second innings respectively. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja too had an impactful outing, taking 6 wickets and scoring 70 runs across the two innings.

After the match, batting legend Virender Sehwag congratulated Team India on a massive win. Taking to Twitter, he praised the stellar performances of Rohit, Agarwal, Ashwin, Shami and Pujara but didn’t recognize the valuable contribution of Jadeja.

Sehwag’s post caught the attention of an Indian fan who questioned the former opener for not highlighting Jadeja’s performance.

Interestingly, Jadeja retweeted the comment of the fan, which suggests that the all-rounder was not impressed with Viru’s post.

The second Test between India and South Africa will be played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune from October 10 to October 14.
