India beat the visiting South Africans in the first Test on the final day by 203 runs. Ravindra Jadeja took 4/87 and Mohammad Shami took 5/35. Indian fans were full of praise for the two and expressed their love on Twitter.
India’s batting was outstanding with Rohit Sharma standing up to the cause with his twin centuries and Agarwal registering a double hundred in the first innings. In the bowling department, it was the same spinning pair, combined with Mohammad Shami that dismantled the Proteas batting order.
Ravichandran Ashwin took 7 wickets in the first innings and added one more in the second to become the fastest bowler to 350 wickets, a record he shares with Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan.
Ravindra Jadeja took 2 wickets in the first innings to get to 200, thus becoming the fastest left-hander to do so. He kept nagging the batsmen in the second innings as well where he took a wicket on the fourth day and then took 3 in an over on the final day.
Mohammad Shami once again came to the fore in the second innings and registered another five-wicket haul.
