IND v SA 2019: "So proud of you my brother", KL Rahul lauds Mayank Agarwal on his scintillating double ton

India opener KL Rahul heaped praise on Mayank Agarwal after his Karnataka teammate managed to convert his maiden Test hundred into a brilliant double ton in the first innings of the ongoing opening Test of the three-match series against South Africa at the ACA-VDCA Stadium.

Playing his maiden Test in India, Agarwal showed an insatiable appetite for runs along with amazing concentration and endurance during his epic knock of 215 off 371 balls in Visakhapatnam. that allowed the hosts to declare their first innings at 502 for seven in 136 overs.

The right-hander also stitched a 317-run opening stand with Rohit Sharma in the innings to help India to declare the first innings at 507 against South Africa on Thursday (October 3).

Following the classic innings, the 28-year-old became the fourth Indian batsman to convert his maiden century into a double hundred after Karun Nair, Vinod Kambli and Dilip Sardesai.

He also joined Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara as the only third batsman in the current set up who have scored double Test hundred.

Taking to Twitter, Rahul congratulated his friend and state teammate Agarwal on his masterclass in Vizag while saying it was just beginning. He tweeted: "Congratulations my brother, so proud of you... this is just the beginning @mayankcricket"

Meanwhile, the opener is currently for Karnataka in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy after being left out for the ongoing Test series against South Africa at home. However, the right-hander has responded well to his critics by cracking tons of runs in the tournament.
