India's batsman Shreyas Iyer suffered a shoulder injury during the first ODI against England and didn't take the field after it. Iyer was taken off the field and he looked in extreme pain.

It turned out to be a serious injury and now he's reportedly ruled out of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting on April 9. The Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper posted a tweet on social media and thanked his well-wishers for the support. He assured his fans of a strong comeback soon.

"I've been reading your messages and have been overwhelmed by all the outpouring of love and support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone," he tweeted.

Iyer hasn't let the injury put him down in confidence and his tweet further read, "You know what they say, the greater the setback, the stronger the comeback. I shall be back soon."

DC co-owner Parth Jindal had earlier wished Iyer a speedy recovery and wrote that Team India needs him in the T20 World Cup later this year.

"Absolutely devastated and gutted for our skipper @ShreyasIyer15- stay strong captain - hope for a very quick recovery. Have full faith that you will come back even stronger from this. India needs you in the T20 World Cup," Jindal tweeted.

As per reports of ANI, a source had confirmed that Iyer would need surgery, but a final decision on whether he will go for surgery was yet to be taken.

"The preliminary view is that he requires surgery but further opinion has been sought from an expert in this regard and if the surgery takes place, which seems likely, he would miss the entire IPL season," the source explained.
