The India pace attack comprising of Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammad Shami has been enjoying a prolific year in the Test cricket, playing a key role in the team’s success in the longest format of the game over the years both home and away.

After tormenting South Africans at home, they have wreaked havoc on Bangladesh to complete a whitewash for India in the two-match Test series – including a historic Day-Night Test in Kolkata.

Even in India’s maiden pink-ball Test, Ishant (9 wickets) and Umesh (8 wickets) scripted history in the cricket, became the first-ever Indian pace pair to grab more than 8 wickets each in a Test match, sharing 17 wickets between them at the Eden Gardens against Bangladesh.

Having finished his home season on high, Umesh, India speedster who also bagged a three-wicket haul in the first innings of the Kolkata Test, has revealed secrete about his red-hot form in whites.

The paceman said he has tweaked the bowling grip that helped him achieve better control and more consistency in delivering out-swingers. Yadav said during a conversation with Rohit Sharma on bcci.tv, “My grip was different earlier so one or two balls would swing while a couple of them would either get deflected from the legs or run down the leg side for boundaries as byes. So it was difficult to control with this grip.”

He signed off by saying, “So I spoke to my coaches and also while discussing within ourselves, I felt when I hold the ball properly, I have more control and chances of moving the ball. So my outswinger became consistent and I could also throw in a few inswingers after making that change.”
